Prof. Bryan Ford leads the Decentralized and Distributed Systems (DEDIS) lab at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). He focuses broadly on building secure decentralized systems, recently focusing on scalable and privacy-preserving blockchains. He earned his B.S. at the University of Utah and his Ph.D. at MIT.
Linus is the former Head of Engineering at DEDIS and since 2019 the Lead Engineer in the Centre for Digital Trust (c4dt.org) where he leads a team of engineers to link ideas from EPFL labs to the industry needs. Graduated with a MS in Communication Systems at EPFL, he loves working on Privacy, security, and how to bring those topics into real-life applications that help "make the world a better place" (tm). He is also very proud to have been actively participating in programming the DEDIS blockchain, ByzCoin.
Philipp is a post-doctoral researcher at EPFL working on applied cryptography, decentralized systems, and privacy. He’s enthusiastic about developing and deploying scalable next-generation systems that enable people to defend their online privacy and ensure transparency and accountability of online entities. Philipp obtained his PhD from the University of Passau, Germany, in 2015.
Lefteris is a PhD Researcher at EPFL. He is interested in increasing the digital trust of online information and processes, with a focus on creating decentralized, verifiable systems. He has received his MEng from the National Technical University of Athens and has been award the IBM PhD Fellowship twice.
On December 5th, Lefteris presented "CALYPSO: Sharing of Private Data over Blockchains" at Bitcoin Wednesday in Amsterdam. He discussed the two main CALYPSO concepts: on-chain secrets and skipchain-based identity and access management.
